Street Sobriety Support
So many judgments and labels get thrown at people who are fighting addictions on the streets.
Few people take the time to understand that trying to get sober and stay sober when you are living without shelter, is a whole different kind of battle.
When detox beds are hard to come by and program space is at reduced capacity. When trauma triggers surround you and peace and security are hard to find. When it is not always possible to change places and people when resources are limited and the nature of survival is often communal. When the elements are harsh and shelter is unavailable. Street sobriety is a hard, hard battle.
For many, many months we have seen the need for a different kind of support system for our unsheltered neighbors. After lots of prayer and discussions, the time has come. Recently, we launched a sobriety support meeting for those that are fighting forward each day on the streets of our city.
The journey is hard and complicated... But no one should have to fight alone.
